Weigh In Day

I was anxious to weigh myself today.  I didn't think I lost any weight since I've been gorging for the past week and yesterday I started with my new diet.  I weighed in at 308.9!  Last time I weighed myself before the gorging, I was around 313!!!  I guess getting sick the other day got rid of alot of water weight.  This puts me in a good spirit and makes me want to exercise more so I can keep this weight loss going.

Changing Diets

Lately I've been thinking of changing the way I eat but not follow the Atkins way of eating anymore.  I don't want to be limited to eating just meat, veggies and cheese but rather expand my menu, yet keep it in moderate portions.  I was pretty ill last night from a stomach virus, so I wasn't too hungry today.  For breakfast, I ate strawberries and grapes.  For lunch some cornflakes and for dinner a sandwich and a pear.  I seem to be holding my food down today, I'm just glad I didn't have any stomach pain.

Now, to go and find some other blogs that are eating more or less like I am...

Oh and I'll have to weigh myself in the morning.

No weigh in today

I felt kind of bad that I didn't get to weigh in this morning.  I usually go to the local HEB and weigh myself on their scale with my mother.  While I was at her house, I had already drunk 64 oz of water and she had cooked early, so I had already eaten also, so there was no way I was stepping on that scale. 

I should really invest in a scale for the house.  Maybe I'll get one for Christmas?  I wouldn't mind a food processor and a blender either, lol.

Weigh Day and Shoes

Today was my weigh day.  I wasn't sure if I was going to lose any weight or not, but I am confident that I lost inches.  My weight is now 321.  I gained a couple of ounces.  I will not let this get me down.

I had bought myself some new dress shoes for work.  I tried them out at the store and they seemed comfortable but when I put them on today, they felt a little tight and I instantly got blisters....I hate that.  I can never find comfortable shoes.

Hydration Calculator



I've been wondering if I'm drinking enough water.  It seems like I drink alot but then I'm pretty sure its not enough, so I went on a hunt to find out how much water I should be drinking.  The following link will ask you to input your weight and take a quick quiz.

is not breastfeeding,
does not live at a high altitude,
lives in a dry climate,
drinks 0 alcoholic drink(s),

and is not sick with fever or diarrhea should have:
184 ounces of water today, or 5.5 liters.


If you eat a healthy diet, about 20 percent of your water may come from the foods you eat. If you eat a healthy diet you can drink 147.2 ounces of water today, or 4.4 liters.


So I should be  drinking a little over a gallon of water.  I knew it wasn't enough.  :(

At least I can say that I have increased my water consumption  :)

Temptation of the day?

David and I went to donate at the plasma center.  It started raining so everyone that was in line outside the building stood underneath the overhang at the entrance door.  I thought they would let us in early but the whole staff was having a meeting from 7:30-8:30.  My knees were starting to hurt and the sidewalk was a bit slippery.  Good thing it wasn't hot out there like on Monday.  Thank God next week, we have appointments, so we don't have to wait outside for an hour and a half. 

For lunch, we went to New Wave Buffet, a Chinese restaurant.  I would usually get some General TSO, 2 sweet yeast rolls, some fried rice, 2 egg rolls, 3-4 cheese wontons and a couple of hot wings.  Since I planned my meal earlier, I decided to get the raw beef and chicken and have them grill it with some onions, bell pepper and celery.  Let me tell you it was alot fresher than the stuff they have on the buffet and it tasted great.  I'm happy I didn't cave in to those sweet rolls  :0

Weigh Day

Today is one week that I've stayed on Atkins.  I weighed in at 320.7.  That's a total loss of 4.8 pounds.  Not bad.  I'm not feeling starved and I'm looking forward to trying out new recipes.  What I am doing is drinking alot more water.  I started donating plasma this week after a year of low iron.  The tech there told me that I have alot of protein in my urine (duh) and that I need to drink alot of water before my kidneys start calcifying and can eventually become non-functional...yikes!  I also started taking fish oil pills and Vitamin C apart from my hypothryoid medication.

Results so soon

Its day 4 and I went ahead and weighed myself this morning.  I'm weighing 320.1...that's 5.4 pounds that I've lost so far!!!  Woohoo!  I was gonna be happy with a pound but 5.4 had me doing cartwheels all over the place  :D 
I can't see the difference but I can feel it.  I don't feel so tired on my feet, I actually have a little bit more energy.  It makes me happy that I don't get as tired as fast.  If 5 pounds can do this imagine 20?

Later on at work, my surpervisor decided to splurge on us for working some overtime during the last hurricane so she got our department a parillada.  That's a mixture of grilled meats with rice, beans and chips and salsa.  I got myself some fajita, hotel ribs, sausage and chicken.  Yes, I skipped all that other stuff with pleasure.

I had a good day






So I weighed myself this morning: 325.5  Its almost the same as a month ago, not bad for all the bad eating I've been doing.

My breakfast was a fruit bowl with strawberries and grapes.  For lunch I had eggs with chicharrones, then dinner was chicken salad with peanuts and pork skins for a snack.  I drank tons of water today and its weird that I'm not going to the restroom constantly like previous first days.  Maybe it will hit me later?

Doing some thinking

I can't believe how long its been since I've last updated.  These days go by so quickly!
Let's see, I was getting discouraged with the Atkins way of eating and was thinking of changing my diet to low fat or counting calories.  I did some research and was weighing the pros and cons and it seems like I'm just fooling myself, those other diets will not work for me in the long run.  I've already been down that road and I've only had success with Atkins.  Some new changes I will be making is adding fruits like berries and grapes.  I'll be getting weighed tomorrow to see how much damage I've done to myself and the countdown is getting closer to attend that wedding in October.  I can't waste anymore time.

I have changed my layout a bit, how do you like?  I like the font because I'm always in dresses and my hair is black  :)

Its no use

I haven't been doing well at all.  Even hubby who never had a problem being on an all meat diet is struggling with a sweet tooth.  I've been thinking of doing something else like maybe low fat?  I need to do alot of reading on what kind of food I can eat.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Weigh Day

Its been over a month since I've weighed myself.  I am now 325.7.  I actually thought I was 10 pounds heavier, so I wasn't too crushed this morning.  I definitely need to get on the ball and make those numbers go down.

I'm back...kind of

Its taken me along time to get back into the swing of things.  This year has been terrible for having control of my way of eating. Hubby went out of town for two weeks and I figured I start up while he was gone, but that never happened.  Now that he's back, he tells me that we've been invited to a wedding in October.  I've got to lose some weight now.  I haven't seen alot of people in a couple of years and I want to look smaller than the last time I went...plus I'd like to buy a nice little dress for the occasion :)

I'll be weighing myself tomorrow.  I hate to know how much I've gained.

Not motivated at all

I've been doing poorly when it comes to eating well and blogging.  I don't know why I don't have the desire to watch what I'm eating?  I never had such a hard time before but I'm struggling this time around.  I am definitely not gonna give up that easily, I just thought I stop by and let you guys know what's going on in my world.  I still read your blogs even though I may not comment all the time.  I know there's a new Atkins book out in the bookstores.  I've been wanting to check it out.

For those that responded on my last post...

Thanks guys for your birthday wishes.  My cake ended up being ding dongs, I ate far too much and still felt hungry.  I know I gained back all 3 pounds plus more.  The only regrets that I have was the awful feeling of eating too much and getting slowed down with all those carbs.  It really takes a toll on my body.  I can't believe I've eaten like this for years.
Anyways, I'm not discouraged, I'm back on my plan and feeling good.

Weigh in Day

Today was my weigh in day.  I'm down to 316.4.  That's 3 pounds down since I started this month.  I did
measure myself and noticed I've been losing inches also.  I wish I could be more
active, but I don't seem to have the time?  I'm gonna concentrate on walking more than usual so I can
get some strength back in my legs.

I've been checking out some low carb videos and there's some great recipes out
there that I've never thought of trying.  It helps that hubby is also eating most of what I eat.  I
can tell he's losing inches also, lol.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.  I've been sticking with my diet plan and feel pretty good.  I weighed myself yesterday and lost another pound and a half  =)  Weighing in on Tuesday might be a different thing.  The weekend seemed to drag since I had to work, but its ok, easy money.  This coming week, I'll be looking forward to weighing in on Tuesday, expecting a visit from a cousin and celebrating my 37th birthday on Friday, oh and having the weekend off.  I'll leave you with some pics of dishes I ate this past week:
